The Moose Apprentice course - day 1

The first day of the Moose Apprentice course is now over.

We:

  • jumped head first right into querying,
  • used various browsers,
  • learnt Smalltalk on the way,
  • mapped a couple of problems on queries,
  • learnt about FAMIX,
  • dived quickly into meta-modeling,
  • searched FAMIX to find useful navigation schemes,
  • extended FAMIX with a custom query,
  • used the custom query to simplify detections,
  • played with Mondrian to build several visualizations,
  • extended them with interaction,
  • noted that analysis is nothing but data transformation,
  • constructed nested views,
  • extended FAMIX with views,
  • learnt about how this tooling fits in the humane assessment method, and
  • had fun in the process.

All in all, exciting. I am looking forward to the second day.
